Zelenskyy Arrives in Paris for Talks with Macron
The visit—Zelenskyy's 10th to France since Moscow's 2022 invasion—comes at a critical juncture, with both leaders scheduled to address media ahead of closed-door bilateral meetings focused on conflict resolution.
According to the French Presidency, the two heads of state will examine "the situation and the conditions for a just and lasting peace," advancing conversations initiated in Geneva and centered on Washington's disputed proposal currently being negotiated.
Security assurances through the Coalition of the Willing will also feature prominently in Monday's agenda.
The Paris meeting follows contentious negotiations launched in Hallandale Beach, Florida, where Washington unveiled a conflict-resolution framework that Kyiv views as disproportionately advantageous to Moscow.
Zelenskyy indicated that ongoing discussions are grounded in modifications secured during last week's Geneva summit, which brought together American, Ukrainian, and European officials.
The diplomatic push unfolds amid internal upheaval in Kyiv, with Andriy Yermak, Zelenskyy's former chief of staff, removed from his position Friday following allegations of major corruption.
France, however, has doubled down on its commitment to Ukraine's leadership.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told La Tribune Dimanche that Zelenskyy "has full legitimacy to lead Ukraine towards peace," emphasizing that corruption allegations "must be handled by the competent institutions, without interfering with the peace process."
After their initial working session concludes, Zelenskyy and his wife Olena Zelenska will participate in a formal lunch with President Macron and his spouse Brigitte Macron.
